Preparing to write a short article, I spent the day reviewing the last decade's literature on, around, or about hypertext fiction and poetry, if those terms of art still apply, if they ever did. Not the best thing for my blood pressure, though I am learning a lot about losing, and regaining, my equanimity. And now the task is done -- I see and understand the boundaries of the material, I've identified some pervasive strains and contradictions, and I feel ready to take a position.
